After going back and forth with the Help Desk on a separate matter, I learned that if a fan does not respond to the confirmation email, they still remain on the list and receive future campaigns.
As a fan on many friends' Fanbridge lists, I know in the past that I've found receiving the confirmation email confusing in relation to responding/confirming. I believe it would be much clearer for fans if this was included in the text - that you don't have to take an action, but can click to update your information if you choose. When you click confirm, it's not quite clear if anything was actually confirmed - there's no message as such, it just brings you to your email/profile settings.
Other list databases (Mail Chimp, Fan Reach, etc) send out a similar confirmation that includes text such as "you don't need to do anything to stay on this list, but if you'd like to update your information..." etc. I think it takes pressure off the fan to do anything - at least, when I sign up for someone's mailer, I much prefer that to a confirmation email where you MUST click in order to STAY on the list - because so often emails fall through the cracks.
The official Fanbridge language of the confirmation email is unclear, and each artist could tailor their own text to say that, but as an artist, I was even unclear until I specifically asked the question - the fact that it is optional doesn't seem to be posted anywhere.
